SAN DIEGO, CA - Hazard Construction Company, a spin-off of one of California's oldest and largest general contracting firms based in San Diego, has appointed Doug Urbick as president and part owner.

Bringing with him 28 years of experience in the construction industry, Urbick is charged with providing oversight of all the company's operations and administration. Specializing in construction, construction management and site development for freeway, bridge and roadway projects as well as varied commercial, industrial and residential community projects, Hazard Construction Company celebrates its 10-year anniversary this year as a separate entity from R.E. Hazard Contracting Company, which was founded in 1926.

Prior to joining Hazard Construction Company, Urbick was employed for 19 years with A. Teichert & Son, Inc., a Sacramento-based construction firm that focuses on freeways, road reconstruction, site development and subdivision infrastructure. For seven years, he served as president of Teichert Construction, which achieved more than $700 million in annual gross revenues. In that role, he oversaw estimating, construction, and administration for eight regional offices, and supervised 3,000 employees.

During his tenure with A. Teichert & Son, Inc., he also served as vice president/ Stockton district manager, responsible for managing all operations for the district office, which was involved in general engineering construction. Prior to that, he also served as estimating manager for the firm, procuring new business while handling contract negotiations and supervising estimating staff.

Previous career experience includes having served two years as construction estimator and project manager for Granite Construction Company in Palmdale, Calif.; and another six years as a construction estimator, project manager and superintendent for DSS Company in Stockton, Calif.
